Circular design methodology: integrated mobility

Transportation and mobility systems need to embrace and apply decarbonisation values. In a complicated and fragmented marketplace innovation and change does not come easily to the transport sector and design is a mechanism where it can lead, coordinate, and apply shared ambitions and objectives.

It can also be used to work smarter and better, avoiding the silo-ed approach, which is prevalent within the sector, a circular approach is a much more effective work process. Circular design starts with the early stage thinking and defines the requirements and objectives, in parallel with commercials and customer facing challenges.

It then moves into the definition and modelling stage, testing prototypes and digital products with customers to ensure it is on-message and meets the requirements.

The third stage involves manufacture and pursuit of the system in all respects. the final stage sees the process integrated tested and released for operation, the final part of the process is to learn lessons and start the process again.
